When will the next version of ‘Starling’ be released?
As far as I know we are up to date with the as3 version of Starling ?
Are you talking about… let’s call it “Starling next” or something : a version that bothers less with being the same as the as3 version but keeps the same API ? If so, Josh shared a commit where he reworked VertexData and IndexData to use typed arrays instead of ByteArray VertexData, IndexData: prefer ArrayBuffer and typed arrays over ByteA… · joshtynjala/starling@1ac9872 · GitHub
it seems it already brings improved performance, haven’t tried it yet but I bet it does
We haven’t yet released Starling 2.8 to Haxelib. I intend to do it soon.
Please note that I asked the question in the “openfl” community, so by default, I said the “haxe starling” version. Thank you
That’s really great. I’m looking forward to it very much. Thank you
@785597448 Yup I knew you were talking about the haxe version ![]()
We’ve been discussing pushing the haxe version of Starling beyond the as3 version lately so I was wondering if you were talking about that : I totally forgot that 2.8 was not released on haxelib yet !
Give it a try, if you can significantly improve the rendering performance of ‘starling’
