Hey, neat twist of Arkenoid!
I’ve only tried it on Newgrounds, not sure if this is a bug you’re already aware of but every once in a while, mouse-clicks seems to pause the game (the same way when you hover outside the game area, out-of-focus). This happens even though my mouse cursor is clearly within the game-area.
Anyhew, the variations of powerups makes the game fun. I did notice a small issue when you grab the ball with the sticky-pad near the edge, then collect a 1/2 half-size powerup, it leaves the ball floating (but still locked relative to the pad position). I think the idea here would be to re-position the ball’s position as a percentage of where it was situated before the resize occured, OR just release it and make it go straight-up / angle relative to the paddle.
Thanks! Very useful feedback.
Regarding first bug - it seems like something is stealing focus on click. Maybe some kind of script on page (ads?..) I’ve just played on NG 5 levels in a row and didn’t noticed such behavior. Could you please tell me what browser do you use?
Regarding bug with fixed ball position while resizing pad - will fix this ASAP.
Have a question. How did you attached assets into exe file in windows build?
@Extro it’s called asset embeding, in your project.xml you have to add
embed="true" to your
<assets /> lines.
Yup! But there is restriction on embedded file size due to OCaml binary string limitation, just in case: http://forum.haxepunk.com/index.php?topic=751.0
Ah, unfortunately my
\assets folder larger than the limit allows…
The Browser version I’m using is Chrome (41.0.2272.101 m).
The other thing worth mentioning: maybe the click-issue has to do with one of the many Chrome extensions I’m running. I’m running AdBlock (which Newgrounds clearly doesn’t seem to appreciate, I get a popup warning on their site everytime), a smooth-scroll extension and others that may have something to do with mouse-interaction.
If no one else has experienced this pausing issue though I wouldn’t worry about it, probably just a very odd-case scenario.
