So there is an obscure old flash game from 2003 that I want to make playable again. I was on the phone with the dev and he’s since moved on to other avenues. He doesn’t care enough to make the game playable again, but gave me the permission to tinker with the source code if I want to.
I have programming experience myself but not at all in games, let alone flash. For what I can do, I got fairly far into it, but there’s just question marks ahead.
The issue is that the launcher requires a user account and the dev has shut off the server that handled those. I have all files (except the source code of the launcher) and assets, I need it done so that the game launches without checking in with the server.
I thought of paying around 22$ per hour, open to discussing the specifics. I can make the data available ahead of time so you can check if this is doable or not.

I used to developed on flash and openfl and actioscript, for over 10 years before steve jobs decided to destroy my field of expertise , i moved to other technologies specially vanilla javascript, python, and php.but due my years working with actionscript and the “recent” development and release of my game using openfl and haxe and due my years of experience working with several languages and third party codes, Surely i can read, debug and fix the code that its not working for you.
So in abstract, Im interesting in your job proposal. if you dont have find anybody im available to talk about it.If so at the moment i will only need to know if you need a migration from your code to openfl and make it work without the server dependecy or just make to work your old flash code. After checking your full requeriments and checking the code i could send you a full price for this

Tu experiencia suena perfecta, no hay mucha gente que pueda presumir de eso hoy en día.
El caso es que tengo todo el código del juego, más un launcher que no puedo descompilar. También tengo una demo en formato SWF. Quiero que el juego original funcione. Yo pienso que hay dos maneras de hacerlo: Hazer reverse-engineering del launcher original (sin autenticación en el servidor) o ampliar la demo con el material de la versión completa.

Addendum: Si consigues que funcione el juego, también me interesaría saber si se puedo convertir en un formato mas moderno que también funcioné en Browser.
Hola Smogshaik, logre que el juego funcione, pero no se que en porcentaje este funcionando , necesitaria que lo probases,
Si tuvieses los codigos fuentes del juego podria considerar rehacerlo, pero con solo los swf no me atreveria, es doble trabajo, hacer ingenieria inversa , hacerlo funcionar y luego proceder a adaptarlo al nuevo framework , y no se si para ti el dinero no sea problema, pero para mi no es sobre el dinero, si no que no estoy compremetiendome con proyectos de gran duración, pues proyecto grandes me generan estres y ansiedad, en fin, espero entiendas a lo que me refiero.
